October 2023 – Fall Aviation Camporee
What: Prince William and Old Dominion Districts Fall Camporee 2023
When: 10/20/2023 – 10/22/2023
Where: The Flying Circus, 5114 Ritchie Road (Route 644), Bealeton, VA, 22712 (http://www.flyingcircusairshow.com/index.htm)
Departure Details: Meet 4:30 at First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City, Depart by 5:30. Scouts should eat prior to arrival or pack a meal to eat on the way.
Return Details: Return to the church on Sunday at around 11:00AM.
Uniform: Class A for Departure from Church, Flag Ceremonies, and for Sunday departure.
Event Details: PARTICIPANTS MUST CAMP – NO DAY REGISTRATIONS FOR TROOP 964B.
This Camporee is an Aviation themed experience. Scouts will have the option to complete the Aviation Merit Badge! Scouts who already have or are not interested in the Aviation Merit Badge will have a track for experiencing various concepts related to aviation, aeronautics, and STEM for education and fun. There will also be some aviation themed competitions for the Patrols to complete. Scouts may also take part in a cooking competition in which meals that they make will be judged based on taste, nutritional balance, and creativity. See Leader’s Guide for additional details
What to bring: Check Scout Handbook for Camping Packing List including clothing for the weather (rain or shine), mess kit, and water bottle, camp chair.
Event Open to: Scouts and Adults Registered with the troop (Participants must camp, no “day only” registrations for the Troop)
Registration Deadline: 10/8/2023 before midnight.
Registration Fee: $43.00 Campsite and Camporee Fee.
Cost Basis: Camporee Activities/Campsite Fee: $25.00; Food: $18.00 ($4.50/meal x 4 meals – Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Breakfast)

Additional Registration Details: If your Scout is planning on taking an airplane ride, an Activity Consent form must be filled out by a parent/guardian prior to the campout.

Health & COVID Safety: Much of scouting brings individuals closer than 6 feet. The troop will follow local health department ordinances. Scouts will be asked general health questions and have a touchless temperature taken at arrival. Scouts may tent with a parent if necessary for COVID accommodations.
Cellphone Policy: Cell phones are a prohibited item as per troop policy. Per troop policy, the troop will allow cell phones to be used during the car ride to the event and the car ride home. Troop 964 will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or broken cell phones. Parents and scouts not in agreement with this policy should refrain from attending this troop event.
Scout Behavior: Please discuss with your scout that living up to the Scout Oath and Law is expected at all Troop 964 Events or event attended with Troop 964. Troop 964 will not tolerate harassment of any kind. Unit Leaders will have a (1) strike policy. Parents will be contacted to pick up their scout if any behavior issues are encountered. This is non-negotiable.
